Using
Delphi and Advantage Database Server Course Description
|
Using
Delphi and Advantage Database Server
This seminar begins with a general overview of the ADS architecture.
During this section we will install the Advantage Database Server,
the Advantage Local Server (ALS), the Data Architect, and the Delphi-related
ADS components. In this section you will learn how to import existing
data into ADS tables, create and modify ADS tables, create data
dictionaries, create users and groups, define constraints, write
views, and configure referential integrity. We will also show you
how to secure your database from unwanted access, as well as to
define table-level and field-level rights. Also included in this
section is a discussion of Advantage Replication, the new database
replication technology from iAnywhere (formerly Extended Systems),
permitting you to keep your data up-to-date across multiple locations.
Taken together, these topics provide you with everything you need
to know to begin implementing your own remote database server solutions
using ADS today.
The remainder
of this seminar focuses on using ADS with Delphi. Topics covered
here include configuring ADSConnection components, accessing data
using the ADSTable, writing SQL queries for use with ADSQuery components,
executing views, writing and debugging Advantage Extended Procedure
(AEP) stored procedures, and programmatically manipulating your
data dictionaries. Following is a list of some of the topics covered
in this workshop:
-
Building Scalable
Solutions Using Advantage Local Server and Advantage Database
Server
- Understanding
Database Replication
-
Defining a
Database Using the Data Architect (ARC)
-
